6th Grade Helps Louisana Residents Recover From Recent Flooding
6th Graders Organize Supply Drive for Louisana neighbors
The 6th graders at Winona Elementary School organized a supply drive to help our neighbors in Louisiana recover from the recent floods. Part of the Mississippi Social Studies curriculum is “to understand how the United States can benefit from individual and collective participation and by public service.” The students went out into the community and to their families to ask for cleaning and personal supplies that will be sent to Louisiana Thursday. They learned about having compassion for others by thinking about how they would feel if they were in the same situation.
**Mrs. Buckley is delivering the supplies August 25.
